| NHTC Warriors Spring Hockey Program |
Warriors Philosophy
The NHTC Warriors spring hockey development program is dedicated to improving and developing all the players in the program with competitive teams at all ages. Within that we have three levels of goals: program goals, team goals and individual player goals. The most important goal is to help each player improve his or her hockey skills so that they can progress to their next level of hockey. Our team goal for each team is to win as much as possible. Winning within the NHTC Warriors program is done with the players on the team. No fly ins are allowed and coaches are required to play everyone. There is coach flexibility to play what they think is a winning strategy and use the players strategically. Equal ice time is not promised, BUT lots of ice time for every player is promised. Players will be encouraged to show leadership and personal development as well as on ice improvement. Teams will be given off ice mental training to help kids with goal setting and mental preparation. Finally our program goal is to develop a long lasting and growing competitive spring hockey program that assists players get to the highest level they desire.
This year we are putting a great deal of emphasis on developing a “Junior Warriors” program for 2003 and 2004 players that will be all about fun and development. This program will be coached directly by our senior coaches Jamie Jackson and Rob Thompson. The program will be a low cost start to Spring Hockey and include most of the elements of the full Warriors program, but will be downsized. Games, practices and an introduction to training will be the priorities.
Program contents
For ages 2002 and older:

Warriors Gear
As many players already have Red Warriors Jerseys which we are continuing with, we have decided not to include the jerseys (game and practice) cost in the 2011 program. For new players a jersey and sock package will be available at an expected cost of $135. (two jerseys and one pair of socks) Players will also be able to purchase socks if needed. The cost of the socks will be $15/pair. Cost
The cost for the entire hockey development program is 2002 and older- $995 (plus hst). The cost for the entire program for 2003-2004 and younger is $495. (plus hst). This includes all on ice training, off ice sessions, skating treadmill, coaching and administration.
Not included are tournament registration costs because teams will be going into different tournaments or leagues, jerseys and insurance. These costs will be paid by the participants equally or in the case of jerseys only as needed.
Please note costs are higher this year due to extended practice ice times and also full hour treadmill sessions for all players.
Each team will have a team manager who will be the liaison between our staff and the team. Volunteers from each team for this job are requested and in appreciation each manager will receive 5 free skating treadmill sessions. Coaches
We will have more than one team in a number of divisions and our goal is to have every player trying out play on one of our teams. The coaches will select the players based entirely on their assessment of the players. Coach decisions on player selection are final.

Other
For effective time management for parents and players we will book sessions back to back, For example where possible ice will be followed by treadmill and/or dryland so that the players (and parents) can still have clear days off from hockey while completing this aggressive and demanding program. The “Official” Warriors season runs for 10 core week, starting the week of April 2 and ending on June 10. However, teams may choose to continue with other later tournaments and are encouraged to do so if they wish. The cost of any additional program after the 10 core weeks is the sole responsibility of the teams. Insurance coverage will extend to further tournaments and events.
NEW FOR 2011
We are working on a number of exciting new activities and opportunities for our Warriors this year, some of which will be taking place after the ‘core program’ has concluded. These include:
We will be taking at least one team to a Boston Chowder Cup tournament or similar. Junior Chowder Cup is 95 and 96 divisions July 7-10. and Mini Chowder Cup is 97-98 divisions and they play July 15-17. This is a great opportunity for exposure to the U.S. schools.
We are actively working on a team exchange with a hockey association in Seoul Korea for our 98 Warriors. This could include at least one team coming here from Korea and at least one team going to Korea to play. This exchange will include “home stay” in both countries for players and will be an incredible hockey and cultural experience.
We are actively working on taking a 97 Warrior team to the Czech Republic on a tour and exhibition game schedule which could also include some players from the Czech Republic coming here as well.
We will be hosting a Warriors tournament for some age divisions. Teams participating in the Warriors Tournament will be expected to assist run the tournament and the participating Warriors teams will receive free entry into the tournament. We do not yet know when this will occur as we are currently sourcing the ice times needed.
Other NHTC Warriors gear will be available on a paid basis. These will include Warriors hockey bags, jackets, T shirts, golf shirts and shorts.
