The following classes will take place at the NHTC Main Rink located at #110 20740 Mufford Crescent. Visit our Learn to Skate page for tips on which level to register for.

This program teaches the fundamentals of skating in a positive and encouraging environment.  The skills learned throughout the program will provide skaters with the basic skills and techniques to continue into Hockey, Ringette, or Skating for Recreation. During these sessions, players may be moved to better suit their skill level.  For ages 3 and older.

CSA approved Helmets (a cage is highly recommended), Skates & Warm Knitted Gloves are required. Skate and helmet rentals are available for $3.00 each at the Main Rink.

During these sessions, players may be moved to better suit their skill level.  For ages 3 and older.

TEEN LEARN TO SKATE

At the Academy Rink

This Learn to Skate class will be for teens ages 11-16. This will be a very welcoming class for all teens that want to learn how to skate or improve their skating skills. Max 12 skaters. This program will be at our ACADEMY RINK located at 9770 196a Street.

CSA approved Helmets (a cage is highly recommended), Skates & Warm Knitted Gloves are required. Skate and helmet rentals are available for $3.00 each at the Main Rink only. Special arrangements can be made if rentals are needed at the Academy, call 604-534-7825.

ADULT LEARN TO SKATE

At the Main Rink

This Adult program will be a very welcoming class for all adults that want to learn how to skate or improve their skating skills. This program will be at out MAIN RINK located at 20740 Mufford Crescent.

Helmets are required and wrist guards are recommend. Please note that we have limited rentals available.

12 Weeks – $420.00

ADVANCED SKATING FOR HOCKEY

At the Main Rink

This advanced skating class is for skaters confident in our Learn to Skate Level 3/4 classes (or a similar program) that would like to advance their skating skills for hockey. Skaters will learn how to stride, transition from forward to backward and a lot of crossovers, inside and outside edges on one foot, tight turns, and drill work with pucks and sticks. Skaters may have full hockey gear and sticks, but really this class is all about SKATING and executing EDGES; whereby they start to gain confidence with speed while utilizing a stick and puck.

This program will be at our MAIN RINK located at 20740 Mufford Crescent.

Full hockey gear is highly recommended to get used to skating in gear. CSA approved helmets with a cage, skates, & gloves are required.

INTRODUCTION TO FIGURE SKATING

At the Academy Rink

This program is for skaters transitioning out of our Learn to Skate program (or a similar program) that have an interest in learning skills related to Figure Skating. Figure Skating to be taught will include turning and edge skills; proper hand and leg stroking position; jumps, spins, choreography and artistic interpretation will be learned.

This program will be at our ACADEMY RINK located at 9770 196a Street.

INTRODUCTION TO HOCKEY

At the Academy Rink

The Intro to Hockey class is for players that have passed at least Level 3 in our Learn to Skate program or can skate comfortably the full length of the ice and stop. This program is for kids brand new to hockey and is designed to teach a combination of skating, puck control, and teamwork as an introduction to hockey. For ages 4 and older. This program will be at our ACADEMY RINK located at 9770 196a Street.

Full Hockey Gear is Required.

HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT

At the Academy Rink

Improve your puck handling, passing, shooting, and overall hockey skills! This class is perfect for players who want to succeed in minor hockey and prepare for more advanced classes. Participants should have completed our Intro to Hockey class or a similar program. For ages 5-9, Max 12 skaters. This program will be at our ACADEMY RINK located at 9770 196a Street.

ADULT HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT

with Ben Pascoe

At the Main Rink

This class will be geared for those adults wanting to get back to playing hockey after some time off or after an injury.  It will also be for those who have never played and want to start playing in an Adult league.  Coach Ben will work on puck control, shooting, acceleration, and overall Hockey Development.  Since the puck will be used full hockey gear will be required. This program will be at our MAIN RINK.

12 Weeks – $540

HIGH PERFORMANCE 3-on-3 Hockey

with Ryan Carignan

At the Main Rink

Ryan is the lead instructor and founder of Ryan Carignan Hockey Development. His classes are fast-paced and high intensity. These sessions are for players that are confident in their skating and skill ability. Players are being given the opportunity to play competitive and fun 3-on-3 hockey with other players of similar skill level. Players may be moved based on skill level to create balanced, competitive, and safe 3-on-3 games. Call 604-534-7825 to register as a GOALIE!
