LEARN TO SKATE

AT THE MAIN RINK

The following classes will take place at the NHTC Main Rink located at #110 20740 Mufford Crescent. Visit our Learn to Skate page for tips on which level to register for.

This program teaches the fundamentals of skating in a positive and encouraging environment.  The skills learned throughout the program will provide skaters with the basic skills and techniques to continue into Hockey, Ringette, or Skating for Recreation. During these sessions, players may be moved to better suit their skill level.  For ages 3 and older.

CSA approved Helmets (a cage is highly recommended), Skates & Warm Knitted Gloves are required. Skate and helmet rentals are available for $3.00 each at the Main Rink.

ADULT LEARN TO SKATE

At the Main Rink

This Adult program will be a very welcoming class for all adults that want to learn how to skate or improve their skating skills.

This program will be at our MAIN RINK located at 20740 Mufford Crescent.

Helmets with a cage are required and wrist guards are recommend. Skate and helmet rentals are available for $3.00 each.

ADVANCED SKATING FOR HOCKEY

At the Main Rink

This advanced skating class is for skaters confident in our Learn to Skate Level 3/4 classes (or a similar program) that would like to advance their skating skills for hockey. Skaters will learn how to stride, transition from forward to backward and a lot of crossovers, inside and outside edges on one foot, tight turns, and drill work with pucks and sticks. Skaters may have full hockey gear and sticks, but really this class is all about SKATING and executing EDGES; whereby they start to gain confidence with speed while utilizing a stick and puck.

This program will be at our MAIN RINK located at 20740 Mufford Crescent.

Full hockey gear is highly recommended to get used to skating in gear. CSA approved helmets with a cage, skates, & gloves are required.

INTRODUCTION TO FIGURE SKATING

At the Academy Rink

This program is for skaters transitioning out of our Learn to Skate program (or a similar program) that have an interest in learning skills related to Figure Skating. Figure Skating to be taught will include turning and edge skills; proper hand and leg stroking position; jumps, spins, choreography and artistic interpretation will be learned.

TOT HOCKEY

The Tot Hockey class is meant as a fun, small-group intro to hockey for ages 3 to 5. Get comfortable and confident in full hockey gear and with a stick in hand! Improve existing skating skills and learn the basics of hockey. *Participants should be able to comfortably skate the length of the ice and stop. For ages 3-5.

This program will be offered at both the MAIN RINK (20740 Mufford Cres.) AND the ACADEMY RINK (9770 196a Street, Langley Twp).

Full Hockey Gear is Required.

INTRODUCTION TO HOCKEY

The Intro to Hockey class is for players that have passed at least Level 3 in our Learn to Skate program or can skate comfortably the full length of the ice and stop. This program is for kids brand new to hockey and is designed to teach a combination of skating, puck control, and teamwork as an introduction to hockey. For ages 4 and older.

This program will be at our ACADEMY RINK located at 9770 196a Street, Langley Twp.

Full Hockey Gear is Required.

HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT

Improve your puck handling, passing, shooting, and overall hockey skills! This class is perfect for players who want to succeed in minor hockey and prepare for more advanced classes. Participants should have completed our Intro to Hockey class or a similar program. For ages 5-9.

This program will be at our ACADEMY RINK located at 9770 196a Street, Langley Twp.

Full Hockey Gear is Required.

ADULT HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT (Age 16+)

At the Main Rink

This class will be geared for those adults and teens 16+ wanting to get back to playing hockey after some time off or after an injury.  It will also be for those who have never played and want to start playing in an Adult league.  Coach Ben will work on puck control, shooting, acceleration, and overall Hockey Development.

This program will be at our MAIN RINK located at 20740 Mufford Crescent.

Full Hockey Gear is Required.
