Learn to Skate

At the Academy Rink

This program teaches the fundamentals of skating in a positive and encouraging environment.  The skills learned throughout the program will provide skaters with the basic skills and techniques to continue into Hockey, Ringette, or Skating for Recreation. We offer a low skater to instructor ratio in our classes which allows for ample individual attention. Visit our Learn to Skate page for tips on which level to register for. For ages 3 and older.

This camp will be at our ACADEMY RINK located at 9770 196a Street, Langley Township.

CSA approved Helmets (cage is highly recommended), Skates & Warm Knitted Gloves are required. Helmet and Skate rentals are available for $3.00 each.

Introduction to Hockey

The Intro to Hockey program is for players that have passed at least Level 3 in our Learn to Skate program or can skate comfortably the full length of the ice and stop. This program is for kids brand new to hockey and is designed to teach a combination of skating, puck control, and teamwork as an introduction to hockey. For ages 4 and older.

Camps will be offered at the Main Rink (20740 Mufford Cres.) AND the Academy Rink (9770 196a Street, Langley Township).

Full Hockey Gear is Required. Helmet and skate rentals are available for $3.00 each.

4-Day Camp – $149.00

Hockey Development

Improve your puck handling, passing, shooting, and overall hockey skills! This class is perfect for players who want to succeed in minor hockey and prepare for more advanced classes. Participants should have completed our Intro to Hockey class or a similar program. For ages 5-9. Full Hockey Gear is Required.

Camps will be offered at the Main Rink (20740 Mufford Cres.) AND the Academy Rink (9770 196a Street, Langley Township).

High Performance Camps

with Ryan Carignan

At the Main Rink

Ryan is the lead instructor and founder of Ryan Carignan Hockey Development. His classes are fast-paced and high intensity.

Hockey Skills: This skills class will focus on skating, puck control, shooting, puck protection, passing, receiving a pass, deking, and compete drills. On ice manipulatives (attack triangles) and shooting blockers will be used.

Power Skating: Coach Ryan will focus on all aspects of skating including stride, balance, edges, crossovers, tight turns, backwards, explosive power, agility, pivots, and stick placement. Emphasis will be put on proper technique with lots of repetition.

Battle & Compete: Gain confidence on the offensive and defensive sides of the puck with one-on-one and small sided battle and compete drills.

These camps will take place at the MAIN RINK (20740 Mufford Cres).

Defence Camp: Ice and Dryland

with Tyson Mulock (on-ice)

At the Academy Rink

Each day will consist of 1 hour On-Ice and 1 hour Dryland/Gym training with a 15 minute break in between.

The on-ice portion will focus on the technical aspect of being a defensive player including standing, moving, anticipation, and accelerating tactics. In addition, Tyson will also cover offensive movements, offensive on entries, and offensive tactics in relation to the defence position. Players that already play D and players that are interested in learning are both welcome.

The Dryland portion will take place in our brand new gym space that includes a turf area. Tyson will focus on speed, agility, balance, conditioning, and strength training, all qualities that are essential to on-ice success.
