Creating Canadian Memories With Friends & Family this Holiday Season

Christmas is always a spectacular sight to behold across the Lower Mainland, with light displays and outdoor activities happening from Whistler to Whalley – there is truly no shortage of breathtaking, joyous moments to share with people you love!

Create Canadian Memories by Taking In the Sights

We have more natural beauty in BC than we will likely ever have enough time to explore, making the holiday season an excellent time to get out and see some of the local sights with friends and family.

Whether enjoying a crisp December stroll through Golden Ears Park, taking a breathtaking gondola ride up the Sea to Sky, or finding your footing skating on a frozen pond if the weather allows, our far-flung local community delivers all kinds of merry and bright sights to behold within a short drive across the Fraser Valley.

Create Canadian Memories by Starting a New Tradition

Traditions are a common creation among friends and families, and we think starting new ones are always a fun idea!

At NHTC, we’re of course inclined to suggest a Christmas skate. It is, after all, one of the most “Canadian Christmas activities” you could partake in with family and friends – getting you outdoors, allowing you to burn off some pumpkin pie, and provide you with hours of old school fun that will never lose its charm.

As with other outdoor activities, there are ample places to enjoy a scenic skate in Metro Vancouver. From the city sidewalks of Robson Square – where skating is free with your own skates (or rent a pair there), to the Christmas card’esque mountain top skating pond at Grouse, the whimsical river skate at Aurora to even discovering a little frozen lake down a back country road – our local area is chalk-a-block with ice skating options, ready for you to slide in on them and make some new Christmas traditions and memories along the way!

Create Canadian Memories by Hosting a Hockey Viewing Event

Still not sold on the scenic tours or outdoor holiday skating traditions? If you’re more about the indoor memory making comforts – consider hosting a Team Canada World Juniors hockey watching day, or taking in your grandchild’s hockey tournament, or renting ice time at NHTC. These are all comfortable ways to keep some great Canadian traditions alive, and capture some moments that are far too fleeting in our fast-paced lives.

This Christmas NHTC encourages you to slow down, share the view with friends and family, and watch the memories unfold amidst the simple pleasures we often forget are right at our doorstep here in Beautiful BC!
