Hockey season training is in full swing, and with it comes a variety of health factors that can compete with wellness. Which is why we want to discuss how to maximize your health during hockey season, so you can get the most out of training!

How to Maximize Your Health During Hockey Season Training

Maximizing your health during hockey season is crucial for peak performance, injury prevention, and overall well-being. Here are some key reminders to help you in managing your health in an optimal way.

Nutrition Nutrition Nutrition

In the fitness world, there is very little debate over this fact. Which is – that what you fuel your body with results in 80% of your results. A diet rich in whole-foods (unprocessed), coupled with lots of leafy greens, free-range proteins, healthy fats and plenty of water, will provide your body with the fuel it needs to repair, energize and remain healthy throughout the fall/winter season.

Rest & Recovery

Young athletes often have busy schedules. Both within their school setting and their social setting. But amidst that, adequate sleep is imperative in helping their body recover and repair itself. With additional recovery methods including ice baths, foam rolling and even chiropractic and massage therapy.

Managing Mental Health

Managing ones mental health is also incredibly important in physical wellbeing. As discussed on…

Stress not only affects your mental health, but also your physical health. For example, it can cause increased blood pressure and a higher risk of heart disease, gastrointestinal problems (diarrhea, heartburn, stomach ulcers, etc.), headaches, and back or neck pain.

In one of our previous posts we also discussed how End Point Visualization in Hockey Can Help Players Perform Better. It spoke to the importance of visualization, which plays a role in managing the outcome of overall mental health also.

Other things to keep in mind include:

  • Hygiene
  • Game day prep
  • After game recovery
  • Injury awareness
  • Communication of physical or mental health concerns

Staying healthy during the hockey season is a holistic approach that involves taking care of both your physical and mental health. Prioritizing your well-being can maximize your performance while reducing the risk of injury.
